SubStitch 2006 is an advanced design system for the home and small business embroidery market. It was created to fullfil all needs of our customers and includes complete digitizing and editing features. For novice users, simply get the image, open it in SubStitch and then select the generation button once for creating stitch! For professional users, Substitch has very complete editing features for users to fine-tune the computer-generated stitches to suit individual’s preferences.
SubStitch major features are:

Automatic scanner input with image enhancement

Multiple methods of image insertion and editing

Dual views for image processing and stitch generation

Automatic image analysis for stitch type, stitch region generation, and sequencing

Convenient and powerful editing tools

Area list for manual sequence change, view, and operation control

Ability to automatically convert any number of clipart and fonts into embroidery stitch

Photo realistic 3D image rendering

SubStitch is a WindowsT-based program that gives you access to the program’s tools and colors through easy-to-use menus, hot keys or toolbars. You can edit the most minute detail of an image or select the precise shade of color from the entire spectrum of colors. With the editing tools, you can straighten a line, curve a line that is straight, correct a jagged line, split an area in half, dig a hole, fill a hole and much more.
SubStitch also features an at-a-glance history pull-down menu that provides a summary of the editing you’ve done to a particular image. The unlimited Redos and Undos combined with the history pull-down menu allow you to look back at where you’ve been and can help you get to where you want to go with your design. Attention to detail is what brings embroidery designs to life. With the SubStitch tools and palettes, you can customize any image into your own personal creation.

Printing design
With SubStitch, you can easily catalog all of the designs you’ve ever created. In addition to a color print of the design, there’s also an information about it, including: design title, number of the stitches, color changes and even more. Also, you can add any additional comment to your design and it will be printed in the bottom of the page.

AI Helper
What is AI Helper? AI Helper customizes the SubStitch software to the user. It remembers patterns in the way you edit images and it automatically makes these changes to align new images with your established preferences. SubStitch actually starts to follow your steps – saving you the time of repeating the same editing techniques to every new image you digitize. Although SubStitch offers an infinite number of stitches and fills, the AI Helper learns your preferences and automatically applies these to your images. But you can always override the AI Helper for more control when you want to create something that is different than in the past, allowing you the freedom to be as creative as you want to be.

Photo Stitch
With SubStitch’s photo stitch feature, you can create designs using not only clip art or simple line art images. Now it’s possible to create different mode colour renditions of your favourite photo. Simply pressing an “Insert Image” button, you’ll get a dialog box wizard, which will help you to insert the new photo to your design.

1-Color Stitch mode

4-Color Stitch mode

Master Stitch mode

Cross Stitch mode

Fancy Stitch mode

True 3D View
SubStitch provides the user with Quick View, which enables the user to preview the design quickly. The effect, that you view in the Quick View window is absolutely the same, that you’ll get after embroidery.
Briefly, you’ll get a What You See Is What You Get effect on your screen!

Lettering
Unlike many other programs that come with a set number of fixed fonts, SubStitch works with the TrueTypeT fonts, already installed on your computer. This feature allows you to create embroidery designs using Non-Latin letters (lyke Cyrillic, Arabic or any other) and symbols. You have a freedom to change the characteristics of any font, like size, space or font layout. Also, it’s possibly to use an arc, circly, ellipse or any shape as a path for the letters. You can continue to edit the lettering even after stitches are set to it. And just like the artwork window that lets you preview images, SubStitch offers the added convenience of being able to preview all fonts as well.

Interface

Experience the Ultimate AutoDigitizer Technology Convert vector or bitmap artwork to embroidery with just a few clicks of the mouse with the AutoDigitizer Wizard. This dream-come-true technology automatically determines the appropriate stitch type, direction and sequence without retouching the original artwork. The easy-to-follow wizard gives you a step-by-step guide to turn artwork into embroidery. AutoDigitizer is included in Maestro and is available as an option with Illustrator, Artist Plus and Designer.
Simplify the Design Process with Productivity Tools
Pulse Signature by Pulse’s productivity tools help you create designs faster and more easily while ensuring superior stitching quality. Use the enhanced AutoTrace technology to outline images for digitizing and generate stitches in one easy step. Import TrueType® fonts or vector artwork and apply any stitch type to outline segments. Combine Auto-Breakup with Import TrueType® Font to create original lettering with amazing speed and ease. Optimize the sequence of an entire design or part of it using AutoSequencing. Branching lets you digitize multiple Satin segments with minimal jumps & trims and have one start and one stop point for increased productivity. The Branching feature automatically sequences underlay too.

Expand Creativity with Intricate Stitch Effects
An incredibly wide range of tools lets you create exquisite stitch effects that unleash your creativity. An unlimited number of stitch types can be applied to a single segment for the ultimate design flexibility. Produce rich and detailed effects with the Complex Fill tool. Choose from a variety of Standard, Programmed and Carved Fill patterns. Blend different Carved Fill patterns using the Region Carving tool. Carve lines into a Carved Fill segment with the Line Carving tool. Create unique linear effects with Programmed Runs and Programmed Fills while keeping the stitch count low. Make your own Programmed Fill patterns to create original borders and Fills for a unique look. Use Contour stitches to create stitch effects ideal for leaves and flower petals. Use the Graduated Density feature to vary the stitch density across the Satin and Fill segments, creating a 3 dimensional effect. For something a little different, use StitchImage to produce monotone or four color photo-like embroidery by following a simple Wizard.

Deliver Superb Stitch Quality
Built on the Pulse Embroidery Platform, Pulse Signature by Pulse ensures superior stitch quality. Innovative Dynamic Density Inset technology (patent pending) provides a new way of adjusting the density at each stitch, producing the best results for corners. Automate the process of refining superior quality embroidery designs with features such as AutoDensity, AutoShortstitch, AutoCornering and Auto-Cleaning. While Pulse Signature by Pulse automatically controls stitch quality, it also allows for customization. Fine tune stitch quality using the Quality Control property page. You can change settings such as the minimum and maximum stitch length; split type for each segment or stitch type to meet your needs.

Customize A Productive Work Environment
Locate tools quickly using the Tool Cabinet. Customize your workspace by arranging the tools in the Tool Cabinet drawers or create your own drawers in which to place the tools you use most often. Use Recipes and Styles to quickly apply exactly the right combination of embroidery settings to a design. Recipes are a collection of embroidery settings designed for specific fabrics. You can use these commonly needed settings again and again or create your own. Once you save a group of settings as a Style, it is added to the list of available Recipes for repeated use. Assign a keyboard shortcut to each Style you create and make the application of those settings to a design even quicker.

View Designs With Advanced Tools
Pulse Signature by Pulse’s viewing features help you work with designs faster and more easily. Sequence View displays color-coded segment sequences and stitch types. Cut and Paste a segment to resequence the design. Check the sewing sequence of a Stitch file by using the graphical Layer tabs. Change the sequence of layers and eliminate unnecessary color changes by clicking and dragging a layer tab to a new location in the sequence. To focus on specific layers or areas of a design, simply hide the other layers with a click of the mouse. Command Editor displays a list of machine commands for quick editing. The 3D Stitches feature gives you a realistic view of the sewn design on the fabric of your choice.

Edit Designs With Robust Tools
Pulse Signature by Pulse provides a wide range of editing tools, from stitch-by-stitch editing to dynamic Outline editing. Fine tune your design stitch by stitch or edit a group of stitches. You can use the shortcut editing menu to Move, Delete, and Insert stitches with ease. Add color changes, trims, and other machine commands too. Use the power of outline editing to Reshape, Stretch, Reflect, Move and Duplicate segments. Use Power Copy and Power Move to perform multiple tasks, such as Resize, Rotate and Flip, in one easy step. With fast access to the property pages, you can modify various stitch properties such as density, stitch type, thread color, pull compensation and underlay styles for any segment.

Create Superior Lettering Designs
Create unique lettering using Pulse Signature by Pulse’s advanced Text tool. Using various drawing modes such as Bezier, Straight, Arc and Circle, draw a baseline and the lettering is placed along it. The shape of the lettering is controlled by its Envelope so you can change and manipulate the shape of lettering by simply selecting a different Envelope. Pulse Signature by Pulse brings you through the entire design process from creating to sewing designs. You can modify various segment settings, such as Density, Fill patterns, pull compensation, and Underlay styles to create different lettering effects for various fabrics. Increase productivity by reducing redundant work using Templates. Simply create lettering and design combinations that can be recalled and modified in seconds. Use a common design and add different names to create personalized shirts for a sports team or club. Make your own fonts by digitizing characters and compiling them with Font Creator. By importing TrueType® fonts and vector artwork you have unlimited resources for creating original fonts. The technology allows you to read fonts created in Pulse Signature by Pulse, creating opportunities for your font business.

Add Chenille Design Capabilities with Pulse Signature by Pulse – Chenille
By importing TrueType fonts and vector artwork you have unlimited resources for creating original fonts. The technology allows you to read fonts created in Signature 2000, opening up opportunities for your font business.

Advanced viewing features

Sequence View
Sequence View displays a color-coded segment sequence and stitch types, giving you quick access to the property page of a specific segment. Cut and Paste a segment to resequence the design.

Layers

Check the sewing sequence of a Stitch file by using the graphical Layer tabs. Each layer shows the stitches between each color change or trim command. Change the sequence of layers and eliminate unnecessary color changes by clicking and dragging a layer tab to a new location in the sequence. To focus on specific layers or areas of a design, simply hide the other layers with a click of the mouse.

Command Editor

The Command Editor lists each machine command in a Stitch file design and lets you edit its machine commands. The Command Editor lists the commands visually so that you can see a representation of the stitch group, the command, and the stitch number.

3D Views

Use the 3D Stitches feature to see a realistic view of the sewn design in either an Outline or Stitch window. Preview the 3D design with a background and light source you choose. Print a high quality worksheet for an effective presentation of the design without sewing it.

The most complex elements are created with Design Center and imported in the Design Page. You can then add text, boxes, circles, broken lines, curves and manual punching patterns. You can move all the patterns to obtain the best layout, and define the Sewing Attributes (thread color and stitch type) for the different components of your Design Page.

When you have finished, you can save your work on your hard disk, print it, and transfer it to a card.

The card can be inserted in your sewing machine to automatically embroider you creation. Design Center is used to create individual patterns from image files created with other applications. You can also apply stitch patterns created with Programmable Stitch Creator to regions of images displayed in Design Center. The resulting embroidery pattern can then be imported into the Layout & Editing Design Page and combined with other patterns.

The procedure is divided in four steps;

Stage 1 -Original Image:
You open a image that you purchased from a commercial source, created using an application such as Paint or scanned from a printed source using a scanner and the appropriate software.
The file extension must be one of the following: Windows BMP (*.bmp), Exif (*.tif, *.jpg), ZSoftPCX (*.pcx), Windows Meta File (*.wmf), Portable Network Graphics (*.png), Encapsulated PostScript (*.eps), Kodak PhotoCD (*.pcd), FlashPix (*.fpx), JPEG2000 (*.j2k).
Note that graphic files in other formats can be converted into the specified format if you have the proper conversion software.

In Stage 1, the image is displayed with its original colors and you cannot modify it.

Stage 2 -Line Image:
To move from Stage 1 to Stage 2, you select one or more colors(max. 5colors) of the Image that will be converted into black outlines. Unselected colors will be converted into white. You can then correct the black and white image using pens and erasers of different thicknesses. If you save the file in Stage 2, its file name extension will be PEL.

Stage 3 -Figure Handle:
When you move to Stage 3, the application automatically detects the outline of the black areas and replace it with a set of broken lines. The broken lines can be edited (you can move and delete points or insert new points). If you save the file in Stage 3, its file name extension will be PEM.

Stage 4 -Sewing Setting:
You can set the stitch, thread color, etc. for the outlines and regions to complete the embroidery data. If you save the file in Stage 4, its file name extension will be PEM.

If you have to interrupt your work at stage 2, 3 and 4, save the file and retrieve it later to resume working.

Features

Design Center

Most Recently Used Files” has been added to Wizard. The Wizard will keep a file of your most recent activity at the bottom of the Wizard screen.

New Clipart has been added to the software. FILE:OPEN:CLIPART

Origins is an advanced embroidery-stitch design system for Microsoft Windows that has revolutionized the way user design their embroidery stitches. With Origins, the user can employ desktop computers to quickly finish his designs, high quality designs which a year ago were possible only by using a digitizer or mouse manually. In other words, Origins helps the user to create, edit, calculate, and save designs, automatically.

Once the image or design has been created or imported into Origins, the program can automatically calculate the stitch for your design an ability that places Origins far ahead of its competitors.
Origins provides a new level of creativity for embroidery designs:
· Automatic scanner input with image enhancement
· Multiple methods of image insertion and editing
· Dual views for image processing and stitch generation
· Automatic image analysis for stitch type, stitch region generation, and sequencing
· Convenient and powerful editing tools
· Object based 32 bit design for Windows95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
· Area list for manual sequence change, view, and operation control
· True 3D virtual reality viewing
· Ability to automatically convert millions of clipart and thousands of fonts into embroidery stitch
· Photo realistic 3D image rendering

Origins is the core system for stitch generation, optional PhotoStitch, FeatureStitch systems should be used to process photos before using Origins.

The minimum system requirements for your computer to run Origins are:
· 30MB hard disk space to install Origins
· Pentium processor
· 32MB of RAM
· A monitor and video card capable of displaying 1024×768, 65536 color resolution
· A windows-compatible mouse
· Microsoft Windows95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP

To improve overall Origins performance, you may want to consider upgrading your system hardware, e.g. Pentium II, Pentium PRO processor, 64MB or more for RAM, large screen monitor, etc.
The Origins system is not designed for use on Windows 3.x operating systems.

Features

Tools and palettes
Attention to detail is what brings embroidery designs to life. With the Origins tools and palettes, you can customize any image into your own personal creation.
Origins is a Windows®-based program that gives you access to the program’s tools and colors through easy-to-use pull down menus, hot keys or toolbars.
You can edit the most minute detail of an image or select the precise shade of color from the entire spectrum of colors. With the editing tools, you can straighten a line, curve a line that is straight, correct a jagged line, split an area in half, dig a hole, fill a hole and much more.
You are truly only limited by your own creativity.

Unlimited Redos and Undos
Origins knows that creating masterpieces is a process driven by inspiration that doesn’t always occur on a fixed schedule. Origins allows for unlimited Redos and Undos in order to give you the freedom to experiment and make changes quickly and easily.
Origins also features an at-a-glance history pull-down menu that provides a summary of the editing you’ve done to a particular image. The unlimited Redos and Undos combined with the history pull-down menu allow you to look back at where you’ve been and can help you get to where you want to go with your design.

Printing designs
With Origins, it’s easy to catalog all of the designs you’ve created. In addition to a color print out of the design, you have a record of the number of stitches, the color changes involved and even a chart showing the stitch sequence of the design. Using the print set-up screen, you can add pertinent information in the notes section to be printed along with the design. For example, you might want to include the date the design was created, the types of threads used or even for whom the design was created.

The artwork window
As you scroll through names of images from a directory, floppy disk or CD, the artwork window displays a preview of each image. No longer do you have to search for an image by name, opening the files that “sound familiar” only to discover you can’t find what you are looking for. Now, Origins takes the guesswork out of image selection, because before you even open a file, you can see a preview of the image to verify it is just the one you want. This is just one more way the Origins saves you time and frustration.

Images
All great designs have to start somewhere, and Origins gives you several sources for images.
You can import an image from clip art, scan in any image from simple line art to a complex four-color image or even pull a graphic image from the Internet. And Origins also gives you the freedom to scan in photographs or download pictures from your digital camera. You also have the option of scanning images from your favorite fabrics.
Wouldn’t embroidering a particular element of your favorite printed skirt onto an otherwise plain shirt, just make the outfit? With Origins you can coordinate anything from clothing to table décor to entire rooms!
(Always check first with the manufacturer about the copyright regarding reproduction of the design).

Photo Stitch
With Origin’s Photo Stitch, you can create one-color and four-color renditions of your favorite photographs. The one-color version produces a shaded effect, while the four-color technique results in a complete coverage of the design. Origin’s Photo Stitch gives you yet another avenue to explore. Your creativity combined with Origins provides you with endless options.

The IQ Processor™
Just like your favorite waitress who remembers that you prefer coffee with cream—no sugar; and she remembers that you prefer a booth to a table; the IQ Processor™ remembers your design preferences too.
Built into every Origins product, the IQ Processor™ learns your preferences and attends to them before you even have to ask. It remembers patterns in the way you edit images and it automatically makes these changes to align new images with your established preferences.
As unbelievable as it may seem, this software actually starts to think like you – saving you the time of repeating the same editing techniques to every new image you digitize. Although Origins offers an infinite number of stitches and fills, the IQ Processor™ learns your preferences and automatically applies these to your images.
You can always override the IQ Processor™ for more control when you want to create something that is different than in the past, allowing you the freedom to be as creative as you want to be.
The IQ Processor™ customizes the Origins software to the user, so after you’ve spent time with the software, it becomes unique to you – no two versions of Origins are identical after they have been used for some time.

Fills and stitches
Origins allows you to change the embroidery fill in each area of the design. Select Complex Fill, Column Fill, Motif Fill, or Split Fill. You can customize even within each of these fill selections.
The embroidery design is not complete until you say it is.
Customize the fill, change the direction, add additional sections, or add outlines. Do as little or as much to the design as you want…it’s easy with Origins. Motif Fills and Split Fills can be combined, as well as left separate, and provide even more options to give your embroidery texture and originality.

Lettering
Just as the editing tools help you customize any image, Origins brings the same flexibility to the lettering on your designs. Unlike many other programs that come with a set number of fonts, Origins works with the TrueType™ fonts already installed on your computer — you can even use the symbols available through Wingdings™. This feature of Origins allows you to create embroidery designs using Greek letters, numerical symbols and a variety of other icons.
Origins converts any TrueType™ font and sets it on any shaped path. Using the manual editing tools, you can create circles, ovals, rectangles, squares or even you own shapes. Changing from a curve to a straight line to stair-step letters is as easy as clicking the mouse. Because each letter can be moved individually, kerning the lettering to your exact specifications is easy — Origins allows you to arrange the lettering in any way you dream up!
You also have the freedom to change the characteristics of any font by specifying the width and height of each letter. Or customize the fonts by converting them to italics. To produce a lacey effect, use a Split Fill or Complex Fill for the inside of the lettering and finish off the design with a Motif Fill on the borders of the letters.
One specific feature of Origins is that you have unlimited Redos and Undos in your editing. Therefore, there are no limits to the amount of the editing you can do to a particular image. In fact, unlike many other programs, you can continue to edit the lettering even after stitches are set to it. And just like the artwork window that lets you preview images, Origins offers the added convenience of being able to preview all fonts as well.

Here are just a few of the lettering possibilities Origins offers:
- Embroider type with style Satin stitch style
- Lettering around paths and shapes
- Changing type direction
- Creating type outlines
- Modifying type outlines

Accordian and Applique
Want to add complexity and detail, or depth and dimension to a particular image? It’s easy with Origins. Try the accordion and appliqué features and create designs you never dreamed were possible!

Accordion spacing technique
Accordion spacing produces a special effect where the spacing goes from tight to loose to show a blended color effect. Choose any fill pattern for the underneath stitches and then select the optional accordion style for the top layer of stitching. The combination effect provides a more textured and shaded look to your embroidery. Accordion stitching is just one more way Origins lets you personalize your embroidery.

Combine embroidery with applique
Want a great way to combine embroidery with fabric to customize your designs? It’s easy to make appliqué designs from your clip art images with Origins. Just select the area where you want the fabric to be placed, create the borders, delete the fill and you’re ready to go. You can even add lettering to further customize your appliquéd designs.

Filmstrip
Origins is the world’s most advanced digitizing software available to the home sewing market. In developing the software, the best features of programs designed for the industrial sewing industry, were incorporated into Origins.
The Filmstrip is one such feature. The Filmstrip gives you a visual representation of each of the steps needed to create a particular design. You can use the Filmstrip to locate the layer of stitching you want to work with, reorganize the steps in the stitch sequence to produce specific results or eliminate any steps that are insignificant to the overall outcome of the design.
Once you are happy with a particular aspect of your design, you can lock or hide this section of the stitching while you are working in other areas. In doing so, you can focus on the areas of the design that need your attention without inadvertently changing the components you had finished.
DesignaKnit 7 for Windows is a powerful, affordable CAD/CAM program for designing knitwear available in Standard and Professional versions. The Professional version is the full-featured program, allowing a greater freedom of creativity and a greater degree of control over the design process.

DesignaKnit 7 For Windows has the following minimum requirements:
IBM PC Compatible computer with 386 processor, or higher at least 8Mb RAM (16Mb recommended). Please note that the recommended minimum for linking to a Silver Reed machine is: 486/25Mhz processor with 16Mb RAM
SVGA (the program can run in VGA mode, but this restricts you to 16 basic colours. Further “dithered” colours are available, but these are not suitable for use with the copy and paste commands in the Stitch Designer section of the program. VGA mode also severely restricts the functionality of the DesignaKnit Graphics Studio, for which High Colour or True Colour mode is recommended for complex bitmaps and photographs).
Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, Windows 95/98/ME/XP or Windows NT4/2000/XP Pro
7Mb hard disk space.
RS232 Serial Port for Cable Link.
NB: DesignaKnit cables will not work from a USB port, even with a serial adapter.

Features
Standard Garment Styling

Get off to a flying start by choosing one of the program’s built in garment patterns and setting the knitting tension to match your chosen yarn and machine, then:
select a garment type and add details of the wearer: specify adult, child or baby, male or female, and then choose from the range of standard sizes offered
modify the garment by opting for one of three different kinds of fit – classic, casual or oversize – and see the effect on a body block, or choose no ease at all
decide what kind of sleeves you would like: raglan, set-in, drop-shoulder or saddle; then select the type of front and back neckline required and the program will work out the garment pattern for you
alter styling details such as rib or welt depth, overlap on cardigans and jackets; change the width and depth of the neckline; turn an ordinary set-in sleeve into a puffed sleeve; change the length of the cuffs, and so on
for skirts, choose the number of panels and make them symmetric or asymmetric and alter the curve of the hemline

If you want more control over the design, you can use measurements you have entered yourself – there is even a database where you can store all your friends’ and family’s and customers’ measurement data, ready to be accessed and used any time you want them.

You can alter and adjust body measurements individually and you can modify the ease on each one: there are a whole host of features to help you to produce the perfect garment.

The Standard Garment Styler is a feature of both the Standard and the Professional versions of DesignaKnit 7.

Original Pattern Drafting (Not included in the Standard version)

A powerful array of drafting tools in this section of the program assists you to start garments from scratch, or you can import the pieces from the Standard Garment Styler and use them as the basis for an original design.

Create original pattern blocks from a square piece by setting the maximum dimensions and adding, deleting and moving points until you achieve the shape you want:
up to 16 pattern pieces per garment
up to 150 points to define each piece
display a grid in inches or centimetres or in stitches and rows
use the Piece Table to place points exactly
add symmetrical and asymmetrical curves to create necklines, armholes and design features
insert and remove fabric anywhere on the piece
control the type of gradient on vertical slopes
measure around the perimeter between any two points
measure in any direction from a single point
re-scale the piece
rotate pieces through any angle for bias or sideways knitting
specify casting off or holding position for horizontal slopes
add seam allowance
add markers to points to match seams of place pockets, etc
use the Grading feature to produce a range of sizes from your own designs
Preparing for knitting

Other powerful features are there to help you prepare the pieces for knitting:
cut pieces into separate sections for knitting
join pieces into one section
move pieces around against each other to match seams
test the pieces against each other to match seams and markers
try out the placement of pockets, collars, etc.
experiment with layplans for Cut-and-Sew

Original Pattern Drafting is a feature of the Professional version of DesignaKnit 7.

Designing Stitch Patterns
Design stitch patterns in colour, texture, or both, depending on the intended knitting method
Patterns of up to 800 stitches and 1,130 rows may be designed, depending on the available memory
Stitch-related grid adapts to match the knitting tensions you enter
Draw your own designs with the pencil, paintbrushes, fill tools, colour-replacer erasers, and filled and outline rectangle and ellipse tools
Use these tools with colour or texture, or both
Use custom brushes
Capture motifs with the selection box of the single and multicolour/stitch-type lassos
Draw or paint in colour and/or stitch type symbols
Zoom in to work in close detail; zoom out for a wider view of your project
View multiple repeats of your pattern, or just a single version
Copy and cut to the Windows clipboard
Paste any bitmap from the clipboard directly into your design
Import graphics from the DesignaKnit Graphics Studio
Experiment with symmetry using the Kaleidoscope tool
Flip motifs horizontally or vertically
Stamp motifs randomly or tile them across all or any part of the design
Use any installed TrueType font to place text on your design, using colour or texture, or both, or custom fills
Use a Graphics Tablet to trace or draw a design directly into the program
Allocate symbols to colours for black and white charts, especially for handknitting or draw directly with symbols with or without colour
Check you do not have too many colours in a row, and check the length of floats and awkward colour changes
Separate up to six colours in a row for jacquard knitting, and check that there are no mistakes in the sequence
Colour-changers are fully supported – graphic display allows you to change the default yarn arrangement
Integrate stitch pattern with garment piece
Printing
DesignaKnit offers a range of diagrams and charts for garment shaping and stitch pattern instructions for both hand and machine knitting
Use your colour printer to produce full-colour scale charts, or take advantage of the facility to use symbols instead of colours
Print templates for punchcards, reader cards and mylar sheets
Print templates for Knitleader and Knitradar
Save printouts to bitmap files for use in other applications

Integration
Show the pieces singly or, by having more pattern repeats on screen, all the pieces of a garment at the same time
Move pieces around and place with precision
Place pieces exactly to position motifs and patterns
Match side seams, sleeves to bodies and cardigan fronts
For downloading to a knitting machine, DesignaKnit will make certain that the stitch pattern is placed centrally for each individual piece
Cut out the spare fabric so that you can see exactly how the pieces will look when they come off the knitting machine. For fine adjustment of position, you can move the pieces around in cut-out mode

Cut-and-Sew
Experiment with layplans, making sure that the pieces are correctly placed on the fabric
Use the cut-and-sew command to weld the shape to the stitch pattern
Fill necklines and armholes with a variety of stitch patterns – stripes, bird’s eye, solid colour or outline
Lace Tool

The Lace Tool is a special add-on for Stitch Designer. Click on the tool and you can draw lace patterns instantly, as they will look when knitted, leaving DesignaKnit to work out the lace carriage passes and settings. You can design lace for Brother and Silver Reed electronic machines, Brother and Silver Reed punch card machines and Toyota Machines. The Lace Tool is great for hand-knitted patterns too as it allows the designer complete freedom.

Brother Electronic Machines
With the Lace Tool you can draw both Lace and Fine Lace – and you can mix the two. You can design stitch patterns with bands of lace, Fair Isle and stitch texture in the same pattern, and you can even have lace and Fair Isle or texture in the same row. When you follow the pattern in Interactive Knitting, DesignaKnit will tell you when to change to the lace carriage, when to change the carriage settings from fine lace to normal lace and vice versa and when to change back to the knitting carriage, and when to change the knitting technique.

Silver Reed Electronic Machines
You can prepare lace patterns for both Simple and Fashion lace knitting and you can combine Fashion Lace with bands of Fair Isle or textured knitting. When you follow the pattern in Interactive Knitting, DesignaKnit will tell you when to change from Fashion to Simple lace settings and, if you are combining with other knitting techniques, when to change the carriage.

Toyota and other Punch Card Machines
If you have a Toyota machine you can design the lace as it will look when knitted, and DesignaKnit will automatically separate the lace selection to produce a template for the punchcard. Then, when you link to Interactive Knitting, via the ScreenLink, DesignaKnit will tell you which carriage to use and when to change.

Digitizing Plus
Create beautiful embroideries from your favorite pictures. Work with images from your scanner or digital camera, use clip-art or create your own pictures with the built-in Drawing Tools, Text and MiniPics. The stitches appear as you create the design – it’s all so easy with Husqvarna Viking Digitizing Plus. Use the QuickStitch and QuickTrace features to create an embroidery with just a few clicks, or the FreeHand functions for complete control. With three windows, one for altering the Picture, one for Creating stitches and one for Editing your design, you can always focus on the current task.
Create the perfect picture… Drawing Tools and Lettering. Draw Lines, Squares or Rectangles, Circles or Ellipses in any color with varying line thickness, foreground and background colors. Add text using any TrueType font on your computer. Load MiniPics to build up a Picture in the Image Window. 50 MiniPics in two sizes are included
with your Embroidery System VIP Digitizing. Edit Images. Crop and remove pieces from the picture, for example the background. Enlarge, reduce, copy, cut, or paste all or parts of your design. Rotate part or all of the picture to any degree. Mirror from side to
side or end to end. Improve Images. Scanned pictures often have slight blemishes. With the Filters, improve such pictures to make a clean image for the QuickStitch features. The Despeckle filter removes color areas that have only a few pixels. Expander thickens lines to make them more suitable for the Trace features. Use the Monochrome filter to change selected areas or whole images to solid black and white, then alter colors as desired. The
Outline filter separates color areas, which can then be changed to different colors.
Transform the picture into stitches with QuickStitch features…
QuickStitch Fill with Holes. Click in an area of the picture and the stitches appear with your choice of 108 fill patterns, including `fancy fills’ with needle point patterns. The program automatically recognizes up to nine `holes’ within the area, and no stitching will be placed in the holes. Include a satin stitch border if you wish, and set the angle of stitching to any degree. Choose from stitch density 2 to 15. If you prefer to insert holes
where you choose, use the QuickStitch Fill with Border and QuickStitch Hole features. Click in stippled color areas as well as solid areas for easy digitizing. A QuickStitch Tie-Off Up is placed automatically after every QuickStitch Fill Area.
